For another project, on maximum ink coverage, VIGC has created several ICC profiles, based on the datasets FOGRA39 (coated) and FOGRA47 (uncoated). These profiles are similar to the well known ISOcoated v2 from ECI or CoatedFogra39 from Adobe (FOGRA39), only the maximum ink coverage (TAC, total area coverage) is lower in the VIGC profiles. In a research we did with a number of professionals we showed them four images printed with a TAC of 320%, 300%, 260% and 220%. Nobody of the professional found the quality of the 220% unacceptable. Some even found the 220% the best quality. One person said that when that image would be printed by four different printing companies, the differences would be much bigger than between the four samples we showed him. The 220% is acceptable, on condition that the maximum black is generated in the right way. Just for that purpose we have created these special ICC profiles.

VIGC Max TAC Evaluation Kit
Next to these - free - profiles, you can also buy the VIGC Max TAC Evaluation Kit, which consists of three images, each of them in four versions of maximum TAC (220%, 260%, 300% and 320%) and all of them printed on three different paper types (glossy coated, mat coated, uncoated). ICC v2 and v4
All profiles are available both in ICC v2 and v4 profiles. Please check upfront if you complete workflow supports v4 before you start using the v4 profiles! You can download a v4 test page from this website: http://www.color.org/version4html.xalter

Naming convention
E.g. ISOcoated_VIGC_39L_220_v2
* ISOcoated: this is a general naming, also used by others to classify the profiles
* 39L: this is the dataset that the profile was based on (39L=coated, 47L=uncoated)
* 220: this is the maximum TAC in this profile, in this case maximum 220%
* v2: this is the type of ICC profile, version 2 or version 4
